Our Covid-19 Policies

Georgia Strait Best of Vancouver Winner 2017

To our valued guests and community,

We are continually updating our Covid-19 policies in accordance with the latest provincial guidelines.

Our Commitment: We take standards for hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and have taken all additional steps to ensure the safety of our guests and employees here at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge.

On a daily basis throughout the season, we are working to ensure that we meet the latest guidance on hygiene and cleaning. Our health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including Covid-19, and include everything from plexiglass screens to hand washing hygiene and cleaning product specifications for our rooms, public areas, and restaurant.

Here are some specific steps we are taking:

Employee Health, Safety, and Knowledge: Our employees have been trained to protect their own health and safety as well as the safety and comfort of our guests. Our management team oversees an effective cleaning program here at the resort.

Specific Covid-19 measures include:

Hand Hygiene: Proper and frequent handwashing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses. Cleanliness starts with this simple act.

Ongoing Training: In addition to training on housekeeping and hygiene protocols, we are monitoring local health authority and government guidelines on preventative measures and WHO (World Health Organization) awareness information.

Cleaning Products and Protocols: Use cleaning products and protocols which are effective against viruses, in all areas.

Guest rooms: Using cleaning and disinfecting protocols to clean rooms after guests depart and before the next guest arrives, with paying particular attention to high-touch areas/items. We have also implemented a “room dormancy” period whenever possible between departed/arriving guests and daily housekeeping service for our stay over guests will be restricted.   We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in these areas, with a focus on the counter at the reception, tabletops,  door handles, public washrooms,  and room keys.

Employee Areas: We are increasing the frequency of cleaning and focusing on high-touch areas like staff offices, administration areas, laundry, housekeeping, restaurant, and kitchen areas.

Temporary Closures:  Our lower lounge, and Hot Tub,  are temporarily closed, and we have also reduced daily room (stay over guests) servicing.

Dining:  We will continue to follow Worksafe BC and Provincial Health Guidelines on social distancing and reduced seating capacity.  Due to these restrictions and regulations, advanced reservations are highly recommended. In regards to the current restrictions provided by BC Health, we are able to over 5000 square feet of outdoor dining.

The Travel Advisory and travel restrictions are rapidly changing and we want you to know we are reviewing and monitoring Local, Provincial, Canadian Government, and WHO guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our guests and employees, and ensure that those policies and travel advisories, which includes self-quarantine, are abided by. Travel restrictions have also been implemented for BC Ferries. BC Ferries are requesting reservations to be made for travel to and from the Sunshine Coast.

We do ask our guests who do not feel well to refrain from visiting the resort/Adventure Center and complete the mandatory self-quarantine (isolation) period/guidelines prior to staying at the resort. This includes out of Province, Territory, Country guests.
